Joe Birdwell, 70

Joe Birdwell, 70, of Columbia, died Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on the Louie B. Nunn Parkway in Russell County.

He was born September 19, 1949 in Russell County to the late James Earl and Jessie Marie George Birdwell.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by; four brothers, William, Phillip, David and James Birdwell, and one sister, Eva Garner.

Joe was a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Vietnam War, sold produce and enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include; his wife  Bonnie Denton Birdwell of Columbia; three sons Billy Birdwell of Campbellsville, Daryll Birdwell of Benton, Ky and Randall Denton of Campbellsville; one daughter Litisha Douglas of Glasgow; three sisters Mattie Guffey of Jamestown, Mae Rexroat of Columbia and Susie Todd of Russell Springs; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one expectant great grandchild; several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service were held on  Saturday, August 1, 2020 at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Baker officiated.

Burial followed in Freedom Cemetery.

Casket bearers: Coty Birdwell, Dylan Franklin, Kayden Birdwell, Tony Derman, Anthony Bennett and Adam Bennett.
