Gayle Louise (Freyberger) Burris, age 67
Gayle Louise (Freyberger) Burris, age 67, of Greensburg, Kentucky passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021 at Taylor County Regional Hospital. She was born August 7, 1954, in Evansville, Indiana to the late Fred and Louise Happel Freyberger. Gayle was a member of Mt Gilead Baptist Church. She professed her faith in Christ Jesus as a young child and carried that faith throughout her life.
On November 3, 1990, Gayle and Dan were married at Saloma Baptist Church. She instantly became a mother to Dan’s three children. Gayle was the most thoughtful and giving individual any of us had the pleasure of knowing. Her friends and loved ones always had a card in the mailbox for their birthdays and anniversaries. She kept notes on everyone, remembering what they liked or collected. Somehow, she managed to surprise us all with our favorite treats and special gift bags. Her handle was SavvyShopAholic and it rang true. She treasured finding a deal, extreme couponing and ultimately making the store owe her for taking goods.
Gayle worked at Taylor County RECC until 1992 when she jumped in with both feet with Dan in the auto body repair business. She was CEO and CFO of Dan’s Body Shop. Most of all she was a loving wife to Dan and the best mother to Nikki, Daniel, and Kimberli.
She leaves behind her husband, Dan; her daughter Nikki Hall (Steve) of Kansas City, MO, son Daniel Burris of Atlanta, GA, and daughter Kimberli Cooley (David) of Lawrenceburg, KY; two grandchildren Vienna and Trenton Cooley; two sisters, Sue Payton (Steve) of Newburgh, IN, and Kathy Tincher of Batavia, OH; her mother-in-law Grace Burris of Greensburg, KY; brother-in-law Jerry (Karen) Burris of Greensburg, KY; nieces Amanda Kaylor (Mike), Megan Burris (Dustin), nephews Scott Payton (Susanne), Jeff Tincher (Katie), and great nieces Audree Kaylor, Paisley Sluder, and great nephews Spencer Payton, Rylan Tincher; many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her father-in-law Bobby Burris and a brother-in-law Van Tincher.
