Jewell Sayre

Jewell “Nanna” Hutchison Smith Sayre passed away peacefully Monday, May 20, 2019 with her family by her side at Allegro in Elizabethtown at the age of 83. Born in Adair County, she was the daughter of the late John and Fannie Hutchison.

Mrs. Sayre later moved to Louisville and started her family and made numerous friends. Jewell retired from Phillip Morris. She loved all things grown outside (wildflowers), cooking (food pusher), avid University of Kentucky basketball fan, doing laundry, cleaning, playing cards (rook and even running off a few), and bargain shopping. She was a giving person who helped many; Jewell loved big and leaves behind a lot of memories that will live on with the ones who loved her.

In addition to her parents, Jewell was preceded in death by five sisters, Maxine McGruder, Ruth Ann Pederson, Ruby Carol Worthington, Christine Hutchison and Sue Scott and three brothers, Bobby, Eddie and Billy Hutchison.

She is survived by her two loving daughters, Beverly (Bob) Money and Kathy (Billy) Cooper; two granddaughters, Nicky (Eddie) Sams and Courtney (Jeff) Beck; three great-grandsons, Cameron, William and Ethan; one step grandson, Doug (Katie) Cooper; one step granddaughter, Shannon (Greg) Hartman; five step great-grandchildren, Cassidy, Salina, Emily, Austin, and Evan; one step great great-granddaughter, Amiyah; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral services will be at 11:00am CDT on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Columbia Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00pm CDT on Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers donations, may be made to Hosparus Health of Central Kentucky or Kosair Children’s Charity.
