Nina Piercy
Nina Grace Carter Piercy, 87, of Columbia, died Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at T.J. Health Columbia.
She was born May 21, 1931 in Burkesville, to the late Otis and Gertie Bean Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Minnie Lee; five brothers, Rolin Carter, Milliard Carter, Hollin Carter, Preston Carter, and Sellie Carter; and one grandson, Joshua Piercy.
Grace attended New Concord Community Church until her health would not allow it and was a homemaker. She loved sewing, working in her flower garden and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her survivors include seven children, Danny (Diana) Piercy of Jamestown, Richard (Glenda) Piercy of Liberty, Linda (Gary) Gillispie, Janet (Terry) Wilkerson, Shirley (John) Campbell, Nancy (Jackie) Cravens, and David (Robin) Piercy all of Columbia; one brother, Stanley (Beulah) Carter of Columbia; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
The funeral service was on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. John Campbell and Bro. John Gillispie officiating.
Burial followed in Haven Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are requested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Kosairs Charities or the Shriners. These may be left at the funeral home.
Grace’s grandchildren will serve as casket bearers.
