Mable Long

Mable Long, 90, of Columbia died Monday, April 15, 2019 at her residence.  Born in Adair County, she was the daughter of the late Louie and Birtie Matilda Davis Rich and wife of the late Willie Woodson Long.

Mrs. Long was a faithful Christian and taught her children to follow God at an early age. She volunteered at the Salvation Army and loved the outdoors and gardening.

Her survivors include nine children, Barbara (Charles) Woodrum of Lamont, Il., Bonnie Lynn of Hustonville, Violet Bridgers of Nottingham Park, Il., Marlene Long of Columbia, Diann Ponder of Liberty, Merl Long of Owensboro, Lisa Keeling of Clarksville, Tenn., Eddie Long of Columbia, and Renee Long of Columbia; five brothers, Kenneth, Willard and Hubert Rich all of Shelbyville and David “Floyd” (Connie) Rich and Donnie Rich both of Columbia; three sisters, Dora Maggie Gentry (J. C.) of Columbia, Dorothy Hoosier of Campbellsville, and Flossie Martin of Liberty; 19 grandchildren; several great-granchildren; nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three children, Marvin Long, Roseann Wilson and Carolyn Williamson; one sister, Edna Taylor; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 11:00am on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Bearwallow Cemetery. Visitation was on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00pm at the funeral home and continued Thursday morning until time for the service.

Bro. Don Taylor officiated; and the pallbearers were Joe Woodrum, Jeremy Lynn, Jamie Long, David Payton, Derek Ponder, and David Ponder.
