Simpson Reliford

Simpson Lee Reliford, 93, of Columbia, KY died Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at T. J. Health Columbia. 

Born in Gradyville, Ky., he was the son of the late Ed and Ruby Pearl Coomer Reliford. 

Mr. Reliford was a faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years, a veteran of World War II serving in the U. S. Army and a retired farmer.

 In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Moss Reliford, and seven siblings L. C., Laure, Thurman, Cooley Daley, Mary Maley, Margaret Haley and Christine Reliford.

Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Dudley Reliford of Columbia; two children, Todd Reliford (Rhonda) and Nancy Hamlett of Columbia; a step-son, Larry Dudley of Columbia; three grandchildren, Christopher Reliford, Amanda Foster and Kim Hamlett; three great grandchildren, Abby, Sam and Jacob Reliford; three step-grandchildren, Adam Dudley, Jennifer Cowan and Jamie Cowan; three step-great grandchildren, Joshua Dudley, Skylar Hare and Ethan Cook. Several nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with burial in the Columbia Cemetery with Military Honors provided by VFW Post 6097.   

Rev. William Davenport and Rev. Steve Pescosolido officiated and pallbearers were Bruce Wilson, Chris Wilson, Benny Burton, Tony Jessee, Brandon Minton and Larry Dudley. 

Honorary pallbearers  were John Ballou, C. J. Holt, Ralph Curry, Wid Harris, Eugene Atchley, Garry Hatcher, Jamie Cowan, Kelly Hamlett, Dwight Coomer, Richard Stephens, Mike Akin, A. L. “Pewee” Sinclair, Steve Roy, Vince Pefferman and Mike Harris.
