Jimmie Rodgers
Jimmie H. Rodgers, 80, of the Portland community in Adair County, died Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 1:31 P.M. at Jewish Hospital in Louisville.
He was born May 6, 1938, in Adair County, to the late Pierce and Lora Posey Rodgers.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Zelphar Smith; his brothers, Augustus “Cricket” Rodgers and Isiah “Shorty” Rodgers; and one nephew, John Smith.
Jimmie was a member of Tarter’s Chapel United Methodist Church and a farmer.
His survivors include two nephews, Louis (Rhonda) Smith and Charles (Vickie) Smith both of Columbia; one niece, Zenda (James) Pepper of Columbia; one great-nephew, Daniel (Jeannie) Smith; four great-nieces, Laura (Jason) Akers, Beth (Micah) Little, Lisa Smith, and Kristina (Drew) Stearns; two great-great nephews, Isaac and Oakley; three great-great nieces, Kylee, Alivia, and Jayla; his life-long friend, Cecil “Pete” Beard of Portland; and several other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Withers and Bro. Darrell Coffey officiating.
Burial was in Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Tarter’s Chapel Cemetery would be appreciated and can be left at the funeral home
The casket bearers were Louis Smith, Charles Smith, Daniel Smith, Jason Akers, James Pepper, Micah Little, and Drew Stearns.
