Virginia Burton

Virginia C. Burton, 95, of Columbia died Friday, February 8, 2019 at her home.

She was born January 28, 1924, in Wilder, Tenn., to the late Marvin and Etta Richards Franklin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Curtis Burton on April 3, 1993; one son, Steve Edward Burton; three brothers, Otis, Garnett, and Roy Franklin; and four sisters, Nina Roth, Wanda Nicholson, Helen Logsdon, Carrie Franklin.

She was a member of Bearwallow United Methodist Church, retired after 30 years at Lindsey Wilson College in the Cafeteria, and loved to quilt.

Her survivors include two sons, Danny (Joanie) Burton of Lebanon and Tony (Sandy) Burton of Columbia; three daughters, Janice Walton of Columbia, Judy (Wilson) Puckett of North Vernon, Ind., and Billie Kay (Terry) Farris of Columbia; nine grandchildren, Michael Burton, Sandra Morgan, Karen Schwab, Dana Ellison, Tim Puckett, Tammy Harden, Allan Farris, Laura Ottosson, and Nick Burton; 11 great-grandchildren, Stephanie Bennett, Eric Morgan, Shelby Hatcher, Colby Robertson, Bryce Farris, Blaine Harden, Morgan Rimstidt, Evan Land, Owen Land, Jordan Puckett, and R.J. Puckett; and three great-great grandchildren, Lainey Kay Hatcher, Jaxson and Parker Bennett.

The funeral service was on Monday, February 11, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Clifton Bennett officiating.

Burial was in the Haven Hill Cemetery.

The casket bearers were Michael Burton, Allan Farris, Nick Burton, Colby Robertson, Blaine Harden, Bryce Farris, and Tim Puckett.
