Luther Garvin Blakey
Rev. Luther Garvin Blakey, 94, of Jamestown, died Friday, November 2, 2018 at his home. He was born December 11, 1923 in Russell County to the late Lawrence and Bertie Hadley Blakey.
He was a Minister, a Veteran of US Army and a member of Jamestown Wesleyan Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Reba Edith Stearns Blakey; one brother, Wesley Blakey; and five sisters, Enola Wheat, Noma Holt, Nona Blakey, Nadine Loy, and Exona Bloyd.
His survivors include seven children, David F. (Vickie) Blakey, and Dennis (Dana) Blakey both of Russell Springs, Lonnie Blakey, Gary (Mary) Blakey, Keith (Gina) Blakey, Jr. (Deidre) Blakey, and Belinda (Bill) Hoover all of Jamestown; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Irene Knight of Jamestown, and Evelyn Phelps of Columbia.
Funeral service for Rev. Luther Garvin Blakey was at 10 AM. Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Stanley Watson officiating.
The visitation was at 5-8 PM. Monday and after 8 AM. Tuesday.
Interment was in the Blakey Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Micah Blakey, Phillip Blakey, Brandon Blakey, Derek Blakey, Dancy Blakey, Scott Hoover, Jason Hoover, and Barrett Blakey.
Memorials suggested to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Gideons International or Blakey Cemetery. These can be made at the funeral home.
