Shirley D. Slayton

Shirley D. Stayton, 69, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on September 29th, 2018. She was born August 11th, 1948 and was preceded in death by her mother, Della Sneed father Clarence Sneed, and sister Annie Beula Sneed. The family was formerly from Adair County.

Shirley was a retired cosmetologist, and a member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church where she volunteered and served on various committees for well over thirty years.  She enjoyed painting and reading, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Welby L. Stayton; two sons, Michael and Bryan Stayton; one daughter, Victoria Fields; one brother, Curtis Sneed; and five grandchildren, Taylor, Chase, Brandon Stayton and Anna Fields and Laura Stayton.

A visitation was held from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., followed by a brief service, on Tuesday October 2nd, 2018 at Hubert C. Baker Chapel located at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive with Dr. Jim Staubes officiating.  A private burial was held at the Antioch cemetery located in Columbia.
