Glydus Bailey
Glydus Bailey, 105, a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home, Columbia passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at 5:54 PM at Signature Summit Manor Nursing Home.
She was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 12, 1913, the daughter of the late Ed and Cora Stamper Case of Estill County, KY.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy J. Bailey on February 13, 1990; a son-in-law, Arvist “Stick” Harmon; a daughter and son-in-law, Ada and Herman Abbott; one son, Howard Bailey; her eight siblings; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Bailey is survived by one daughter, Irene Harmon of Glensfork; three sons, Hardy “Junior” (Sue) Bailey, Bill (Dorthy) Bailey, and Danny (Linda) Bailey all of Columbia; one daughter in law, Julia Bailey of Columbia; 12 grandchildren, their spouses and descendants; and a host of other family members who loved her dearly.
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Russell Heights Baptist Church, was a homemaker and an avid gardener. She loved cooking, quilting, reading, and singing. She also loved the outdoors and animals.
The funeral service was on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home Columbia with Bro. Darrell Treece and Bro. Jerry Putteet officiating.
Interment was in the Haven Hill Cemetery in Columbia.
The family request visiting after 5:00 PM on Tuesday at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home.
The pallbearers were Shane Garmon, Kenny Hardin, Jeremy Janes, Greg Jessie, Scotty Nuckols, and Kevin Reynolds.
