Nellie Burbridge

Nellie Burbridge, 95, of New Albany, IN, formerly of Columbia, died Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Rolling Hills Healthcare in New Albany.

She was born September 17, 1922 in Crocus, Kentucky to the late Tom and China Williams Staton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Burbridge; three sons, Roy Mitchell Burbridge, Charles Marshall Burbridge, and Ronald David Burbridge; two brothers, Allen and James Staton; six sisters, Nora Staton, Josie McWhorter, Sally Stone, Rachel James, Dorothy Jumper, and Opal Lambert; and three grandchildren, Raymond, Tony, and Barry Burbridge. She was a member of Phillips Chapel AOH Church of God in Louisville, an ordained minister and a homemaker.

Survivors include; one daughter, Joyce Burbridge of Jeffersonville, IN; four grandchildren, Jeannetta Burbridge, Gregory Burbridge, Donna Taylor (Don) Ford and Jocelyn Burbridge; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives; and friends also survive.

The funeral service was on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bishop Norman Dukes delivering the eulogy.

Burial was in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

The casket bearers are Carl Jones, Mark Jones, Nathan Picou, Paul McWhorter, Jonathan Williams, and Josh Cheatham.

Grissom-Martin Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
