Homer Stephens
Rev. Homer Stephens, 81, of Columbia, Ky., died Friday, Dec. 22, 2017 at 5:30 a.m. at Signature Healthcare at Summit Manor in Columbia.
He was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Russell County, to the late George and Fairlee Hopper Stephens.
He was married to Delpha Hughes Stephens for 56 years until her death August 18, 2013 and later married Brenda Garmon Stephens.
Rev. Stephens was in the ministry for 55 years. In 1967, he founded Calvary Temple Church in the Garlin community and served as Pastor for 49 years.
He is survived by: his wife, Brenda Gann Garmon Stephens of Columbia; three daughters, Tammy Bryant and husband Wayne, Robin Franklin and husband Billy, Sherry Turner, all of Columbia; four brothers, Elmer, Quinton and Glen Stephens, all of Russell Springs, Jimmy Stephens of Campbellsville; two sisters, Sarah Estes and Kathleen Holt both of Eubank; four grandchildren, Wesley Bryant, Tiffany Arnold, Bethany Thompson, Cody Turner; five great-grandchildren, Landon and Landree Bryant, Blaire Arnold, Amelia and Connor Thompson; several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Amy Jo Bryant.
A Home-Going Celebration was held Friday, Dec. 29, 2017 at Calvary Temple Church with Rev. Johnny Autry, Rev. Jimmy Lee and Pastor Troy McWhorter officiating.
Burial was in Haven Hill Cemetery.
Casket Bearers were: Wesley Bryant, Cody Turner, Billy Franklin, Wayne Bryant, Anthony Arnold, and Jr. Thompson.
Honorary Casket Bearers were: Tiffany Arnold, Bethany Thompson, Amanda Bryant, Blaire Arnold, Landon Bryant, Amelia Thompson, Connor Thompson, and Landree Bryant.
