The Adair County Marching Band is heading to the state competition once again, after taking first place at the Kentucky Music Educators Association Class AAA Western Regional Competition last Saturday in Bowling Green.
Adair County competed against 11 other bands including: North Oldham, Larue County, Breckinridge County, Lone Oak, Warren East, Taylor County, Boyle County, Franklin-Simpson, Russell County, Calloway County and Hart County to win the title.
The competition was originally scheduled to be held at Warren East High School but was moved to the parking lot of Bowling Green High School due to the field conditions.
"We are actually quite pleased with where we are at this point of the season and after watching the tape from Saturday's performance, I am proud of how well the students handled the surface and cool conditions," stated Case.
The band will now travel to the Class AAA Quarter Finals at Meade County this Saturday and, if they secure one of the four top spots, will travel to Louisville to perform a Papa John's Cardinal Stadium for the State Finals.
"We have some stiff competition this coming weekend, but I have total confidence that our students will respond and perform accordingly. We have a great senior class and their leadership has been a big asset for us this season," said Case
"It has been great year, and all we can do with this activity is our very best. We are not going to let a panel of 6 judges control how we feel about ourselves, no matter the circumstances."
