The Adair County Marching Band competed in the Rebel Classic at Boone County High School in Florence, KY last Saturday and captured their second consecutive Grand Champion rating.
During the competition the Adair band competed against three other state finalists from last year, including Williamstown, who out-scored Adair earlier in the season at the finals at Eastern High School in Louisville.
The Adair Band finished the preliminary part of the competition with highest score of all 15 bands competing with a score of 89.0, followed by Class AAAAA band Dixie Heights with a score of 88.
During the final competition the Adair Band once again received the highest score of 92.0 and was followed again by Dixie Heights with a score 90, making Adair County the Grand Champion.
In addition the Adair Band also brought home the top honors for best music, best visual, best overall effect, best color guard and best percussion.
"I am very proud and happy for the students with this achievement because we have a great deal of respect for all bands, but to come out on top against Williamstown, especially winning all captions says a lot about our band," stated Adair County Band Director Tom Case.
This was Adair County's final regular season performance before heading to the state regional competition at Warren East High School in Bowling Green on Oct. 31st.
"We have a great deal of confidence heading into the two weeks of the state championships, and are looking forward to competing in the state quarterfinals on Saturday," Case said.
The Adair County Band performs at 12:00 p.m. at Warren East HS on Saturday, October 31st in conjunction with the KMEA Class 3A West Quarterfinals.
If Adair qualifies at the regional competition the next performance will be the state preliminary competition on Nov. 7th in Meade County before the finals competition later that evening at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium in Louisville.
