The ACHS Indians used a big second and third quarter to overpower the visiting Cumberland Co. Panthers 63-48 to pick up their third victory of the season on Friday night at John Burr Memorial Gym.
The Tribe outscored their visitors 30-16 in the key stretch overcoming a one point deficit for the win.
Early on the game looked to be slug fest with both teams trading out the lead in the first period. Kyle Sandusky struck for 8 of his team high 24 points in the opening frame as the Indians trailed 16-15.
The Indians defense took hold in the second period, as they held Cumberland to no field goals and only five points from the charity stripe in the frame as they took a 28-21 lead into the half.
Six points from Blake Perkins and five from Kyle Young led the Indians charge after the half, as they were able to extend their lead in the third quarter to 45-32.
Things got interesting during the final frame as the Panthers roared back going on a 14-4 run to cut the Adair advantage to 49-46 with 3:00 remaining. However, a Tristan Reece basket, combined with a Technical foul on the Panther bench allowed the Tribe to extend the lead back out to nine points.
Joining Sandusky in double figures were Reece (13), and Perkins (10). The Indians were in action earlier this week in the Citizens First tournament at Bowling Green and will be competing in the Campbellsville University Christmas tournament next week. They tip off Monday at Campbellsville as they open up with Monroe Co.
