Margaret "Peggy" van Hook Swayze

Margaret "Peggy" van Hook Swayze, an Adair County resident, daughter of the late Errett van Hook and Margaret Maddox van Hook, died January 12, 2010 at her residence after several months' illness.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, she was born in 1925 and is survived by her daughter, Jan Swayze Curry and husband Steve Curry; grandchildren, Grahm and Louis Pence and wife Sarah Scott Pence, all of Adair County; great-granddaughter, Victoria Pence; sister, Judy van Hook Cowart; brother, Errett van Hook and several other relatives.
Mrs. Swayze was an artist who worked particularly with stained glass, and, with her family, she bred and exhibited Afghan Hounds and Whippets. A member of the Episcopal Church, she was one of the founders of St. Anne's Church, Atlanta, Ga. She attended St. Thomas' Church, Campbellsville. She was a graduate of Agnes Scott College, Decatur, Ga. and the Parsons School of Design in New York City. Her stained glass designs are in several churches across the southeast United States and Lindsey Wilson College, Columbia.
The funeral will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 116 S. Columbia Ave., Campbellsville, Ky. at 2 p.m. EST Saturday, January 23, by Reverends Mitch Bojarski and Karl Lusk. Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested in her name to the Take the Lead Foundation, P.O. Box 6353, Watertown, NY 13601, or to the Memorial Fund of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 116 South Columbia Avenue, Campbellsville, KY 42718.
A memorial service and interment of Mrs. Swayze's ashes will be held at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, Atlanta, at a later date.
