Garlan Wilson
Garlan Wilson, 90, of West Old Nashville Road, Columbus, IN died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient Facility. A member of Lowell General Baptist Church, Mr. Wilson was a former employee of Golden Foundry, retiring in 1982 after many years of service. He enjoyed farming, camping, horseback riding and gardening. The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Poynter officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana. Born in Edmonton, Ky., Jan. 2, 1919, Mr. Wilson was the son of Marvin and Della Jessie Wilson. He married Norma Whittington June 21, 1947. She preceded him in death May 21, 2002. He married Alice Riendeau Jan. 28, 2006. She survives. Other survivors include a sister, Louvern Lee of Columbia, Ky.; daughters, Connie Crouch of Seymour, Marilyn (Mike) Jaggers of Columbus, Myra (Mike) Ogle of Franklin and Angela (Darrin) Burton of Columbus; six stepchildren; nine grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; a son, Tom Wilson; three brothers; and one sister.
