Sterling Lee Hunter
Sterling Lee Hunter, 63, of Campbellsville, KY, formerly of Columbia and Monticello, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:03 p.m. at Taylor Regional Hospital. A native of Wayne County, he was a son of the late Jim Hunter and Antha Mae Napier Hunter, who survives, of Monticello. Besides his mother, he is survived by his wife, Margie Peyton Hunter of Campbellsville; two sons, Cliff and James Hunter, both of Campbellsville; six daughters, Joanne Payne of Columbia, Carol Cowan, Angela Clayton, Anna Noyola, Lisa Sheppard and Joyce Sheppard, all of Campbellsville; four brothers, Wilburn and Danny Hunter, James and Cecil Garth, all of Wayne County; five sisters, Lena Allen, Mary Garrett, Vida Hunter, Margie Garth, all of Wayne County, and Martha Chaney of Somerset. Twenty-one grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and friends also survive. He was a member of the Church of God of Campbellsville and a former auto body repairman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 12 Noon CDT at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bishop William Paul Hardin officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery. The casket bearers will be: Melvin Cowan, James Clayton, Mike Payne, Jesue Noyola, Hurrican Sheppard, Zack Sheppard and Leon Allen. The honorary casket bearers will be: Jeff Garrett, Jamal Kinney and Lonnie Allen. Visitation will be today, Tuesday, June 16, 2009 from 6-9 EDT at Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ in Monticello and after 10 a.m. CDT Wednesday at the funeral home. Grissom-Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
