ACHS Cheerleaders Capture CANAM Regional Championship
The Adair County High School cheerleaders are once again the CANAM varsity squad Regional Champions topping Meade County and Monroe County at last Saturday's competition. Adair County was the host school for the competition, which featured teams from Whitley City, Campbellsville, McCreary County, Monroe County and Ashland City, TN. Adair County took the champion spot with a routine, that according to head coach Julie McQueary was put together over the past two weeks. "It's been a rough year and we've lost a lot of cheerleaders for various reasons over the course of the season, but we put together the routine over the past two weeks so I am very proud of their performance," said McQueary. In addition to the team competition, Adair County varsity cheerleader Breanna Meeks competed in the individual competition and took the top honors as well. "Breanna's performance was outstanding, I think it was her best performance I have ever seen her do in the individual competition," commented McQueary. By winning the regional championship, the ACHS cheerleaders qualified for the CANAM Nationals to be held in March, but will not be able to attend this year's competition. However, the squad and coaches are planning to return next year for the 2011 Nationals. The ACHS cheerleaders have two more competitions this year including one at Warren East High School in Bowling Green on February 13th and the NCA competition on February 27th and 28th in Louisville.
