GREEN COUNTY WOMAN Dies IN HEAD-ON Crash

A well-known Green County woman with many ties to Adair County was killed in a head-on collision near the Ebenezer community of Green County Tuesday morning.
Forty-nine-year old Tammy Downey Jones of Greensburg was killed in the collision, which occurred at 9:06 a.m. Tuesday three miles south of Greensburg on Ebenezer Road.
According to the report from the Kentucky State Police, the accident occurred when Jones, operating a 2002 Ford Contour, was traveling east on Ebenezer Road and Timothy M. Embry, 37, also of Greensburg, was traveling west on Ebenezer in a 1999 Kenworth dump truck when the two vehicles met in a curve and collided head-on.
Jones, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County coroner. Embry, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the collision.
The accident is being investigated by Trooper John Boyd. He assisted at the scene by Trooper Clint Walker, KSP Det. Israel Slinker, CVE Officer Jason Morris, the Green County Sheriff's Office and the Green County EMS and Rescue.
Obituary
Tammy Downey Jones, 49, of Ebenezer Road, Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010 at 9:11 a.m. as the result of an automobile accident in Green County.
She is survived by her parents, Arlin and Janice Bardin Downey of Greenburg; her husband, Paul Jones of Greensburg; one sister, Bridget Lush and her husband Charles of Leitchfield; a step-daughter, Carly Ann Davis of Lexington; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milton and Geraldine Jones of Campbellsville; along with nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Tammy was a member of the Milltown United Methodist Church and a hairdresser.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Bryant and Bro. Jadell Janes officiating.
Interment in the Memorial Gardens in Campbellsville.
Pallbearers are Charles Breeding, Colton Downey, Danny Downey, Chad Downey, Barry Bardin, Jason Jones and Ben Harris.
Expressions of sympathy make take the form of Gideons Bibles and may be made at the funeral home.
