Applications For C.A.I.P Cost-Share Funds To Be Accepted SEPT. 1st-15th
The Kentucky Agricultural Development Board approved $200,000 in Agricultural Development Funds for the Adair County C.A.I.P. program (County Agricultural Investment Program) to be administered by the Adair County Cattlemen's Association. C.A.I.P. is designed to provide farmers with incentives to allow them to improve and diversify their current production practices. C.A.I.P. combines what were previously known as county model cost-share programs into one, where each model program becomes an investment area. The investment areas are: •Agricultural Diversification •Cattle Genetics Improvement •Commercial Poultry, Dairy & Swine •Farm Livestock Fencing Improvement •Farm Structure & Commodity Handling •Forage Improvement & Utilization •Goat & Sheep Diversification •On-Farm Energy Efficiency & Production •On-Farm Water Enhancement •Technology C.A.I.P. covers a wide variety of agricultural enterprises in its eleven investment areas including commercial production of aquaculture, bees/honey, equine, forage, fruit, livestock, mushrooms, ornamental horticulture, poultry, rabbits, timber, and vegetables, as well as agritourism business development, commercial kitchen construction/conversion, energy efficiency/production, and on-farm water enhancement. Applications for the program will be available September 1 - September 15, 2009 at the Adair County Extension Office.
